Get the pieces.

Open Sand Straw Detachable case and remove the straw and cleaning brush. 

Clean the straw.

Rinse the cleaning brush and straw in hot running water.  Add soap to the cleaning brush and insert and cleaning brush into the straw. Clean vigorously.  Rinse straw with hot running water to remove all soap deposits and continue until water runs clear through the straw. 

Clean the case.

Rinse the carrying case with soapy water and rinse. 

Let it all dry.

Dry the outside of the straw and place straw on a drying rack. Place case upside-down to dry.

Back in action.

Once dry, insert the straw and cleaning brush back into the case. 

When you're out and about, wash your Sand Straw in the bathroom before you leave, or sip a little water out of it, especially if you had a sticky, sugary drink.

To wash your Sand Straw, wash the outside with soap and water, then put a dab of soap on the brush and scrub. Rinse with hot water and repeat as necessary. 

Just like everything else in your life, you should deep clean your Sand Straw every now and then to prolong its life and maintain quality. 

You can sanitize it in rapidly boiling water for 5 minutes. Use tongs to submerge your Sand Straw and prevent it from sitting on the bottom.

Just like you and me, metal can smell for a variety of reasons. To deodorize, you can use vinegar, baking soda, and time.
